I have three cc's in co status. One is joint (discover) with DH. One is mine (Citi) DH is auth user and is not on ANY of my reports, but is on his. I am contemplating disputing for him for removal as auth user, but wanted advice as to whether this would cause it to "reappear" on my report. The third is his (Chase) with me as auth user. I have disputed for removal on my report.

Our scores are as follows:
ME: TU 621; EX 621; EQ (myfico 572, PG 610)
DH: TU 601; EX 637; EQ (my fico ?, PG 606)

We have 9 1/2 yrs of credit history. We have one true open installment acct (though our reports vary in that some say two or even three..I have disputed this), and 9 revolving accts though with $0 balances, aside from our charge offs.

We are veterans and would like to secure a VA loan. How much additional work do I need to do? Do I need to negotiate settlement with the three cards *prior* to attempting the loan process?

I appreciate your advice and thank you in advance.

I think that you are in good shape to get a VA loan. Just remember that you should check conventional rates at the same time. Lenders have to add to the rate to "give you" the things at "no cost" that is required when you do VA loans, so maybe just as well off to go conventional, at least have the loan officer run the figures both ways.

Thank you for looking over my post. Do you think that my charge-offs will be an issue? I have saved up about 50% of their balances for settlement purposes, but certainly would love to use that towards the home if possible. I guess I don't know whether to try and negotiate or sit on them for a while longer and see if we can secure a VA loan without them....

Thanks again!

I would apply for the VA loan and keep your funds until you get your approval. It has been this long, the creditors can wait a little longer.
