What happens when the creditor files bankruptcy and the debt is sold to another company and you can't get an address for the new debt holder?
I was able to track it to the local attorney who dealt with this about 4 yrs ago but this attorney has since given up working with the company. The attorney has not given me a forwarding address to the creditor.
Any ideas about my options on how to contact them so that I can settle this?
Thanks all.

Heck. Try getting the judgement vacated...is that possible?

Well if you can't find them then dispute the debt with the CRA and if THEY can't get the debt validated then it would be removed anyway - if they do validate the debt, write and ask how they got the validation - then you can go from there.

Thanks both for the replies. I thought that was a possibility as well and will definitely pursue it.

After re-reading your post.....Is it a debt or or do you have a judgement? If its a debt - do the debt validation - if its a judgement you will have to go to the court to get it vacated. Don't know how they would handle it if the company you needed to pay has filed BK.
