Hi,

In 1992 I owed an ammount of $1200 to a Univerrsity I attended one semmester, they routed me a collection company.
In 1993 the collection agency offered me , after I requested in writing, a payment plane of $75 monthly until I pay off the total ammount of $1500, then I agreed.
I started sending $75 per month until I made last payment in october 1994. They used to send me a payment recording book in the middle of each month and I kept sending a payment of $75 or some times $150, as personal check or money order at end of each month until I finish the last payment in october 1994. At that time they didn't send the payment book back to me after I completed paying the full ammount.

Now, after eight years, before two weeks, I have recieved a call from collection agent who is claiming that he is trying to collect a dept he said I owe to the same University. After I explained to him that I paid this ammount eight years ago, they replied "I don't know show me proof or you will pay".
Lukily, I find a copy of one Chemical Bank check I paid to the collection before 8 years and a copy of the front cover of thier collection record book, then I faxed to them. The, they requested copy of the back of the check which I do't have now.

Finally, I find out that the new collection agency who is calling me is the same agency I paid $1500 before eight years. They are claiming that I have never paid them a panny even after I have faxed a copy of thier collection record book.
The other problem, I was uing my chemical bank checking, which is not exist now after merging with chase bank.
Please, advice me what I can do to make them look back my old payments and protect myself doublepayment in the future.
Thank you for your advice

:)
