An interesting article from today's San Francisco Chronicle:

What's revealing is the quote from the VP of TU. No hint of what TU is doing to combat identity theft. I would love to see the CRA's step up to the plate and present consumers with some real solutions.

".....No one, after all, authorized these companies in the first place to handle their credit histories."

Exactly what I said in another thread! Guess that sentiment has more credibility when written in a newspaper LOL.

What I find interesting is the following:

1. It is YOUR information they have.

2. It is often wrong and this hurts you.

3. Now they are charging lots of money NOT to provide your information to others.

4. How come I am not smart enough to figure out a way to charge money for not doing something?

interesting concept...

if I try to sell real estate I don't own I go to jail

if I try to sell a movie or book that I don't own (the copyrights to) I go to court

but they can sell information that they don't own and then charge us to not sell it!

GRRRRR!

As I have said before, they should at least split the profits with the consumer! :D

It would be nice to freeze out access by CA's poking around in your info.
