There is still a serious problem I see here, and that is what will they accept as proof of having been a victim of ID Theft.

I know many consumers just lack the knowledge to understand that certain steps are nessasary now to protect their rights. Most times they dispute ID Theft - but still fail to meet requirements to show effort to substanciate having been a victim.

I fear that this will continue to be a problem, as most people are overwhelmed with what is required to accomplish this part.

Hope they have thought of this and will have ideas for either making it better known to the public and educate them. Or they come up with a better system for identifying them quickly. ID Theft is very hard to prove, and most cases don't every locate the suspect responsible for the crime.

Most people dismiss it and carry on, and that is not good enough to keep allowing them to escape punishment!

This is going to continue to be a serious problem for some time, and the ones committing the crimes know this to just continue their ways with little risk and fear.

I think that is the only time a victim will see progress - when involved with a major theft ring involving more then one victim. Very fortunate for them & patients and determination will hopefully see them through on this matter since there are others involved to help them.

My fear is the every day one time thefts - to an individual here or there. These are harder to catch and most people don't know how to properly investigate when there are no orgainizations backing them up or believing them on the matter in the first place.

These are the ones that keep escaping the system.

You don't need to sign up for a monitoring service, you can get free reports just by disputing things on your credit report, by saing you're unemployed and are going to apply for a job, all KINDS of ways!
