I got my reports some time ago. I've been trying to learn as much as possible about Debt Validation to get it cleaned up. I decided to leave the medical stuff until I can foolow WhyChats advice and pay some off. On one of the reports, there is a reported SSN that I did not notice when I originally got the report. I had a friend check it out and it belongs to my father. Well, there are a lot of things on my report that are not mine. There is a lot that belongs to me, too. Some of the unfamiliar stuff goes back years. Is there anything I can do? Any recourse? Any way I can get EVERYTHING off of my report? I have no idea how to fight this because anything on my report can easily come back verified, but that doesn't mean it's mine.
The other thing is back in 1997, my SSN, check book, and drivers license were all stolen. The person who stole them had a drivers license made with my information and her face. She wrote checks liek they were going out of style. I had a police report filed and an affadavit of forgery at the bank. A few things showed up on my credit and I thought I had it all taken care of but what if some of the bad items on my credit were caused years later by this person over the years?
The only bad thing is I really don't know how to present this to the CRA's or how to prove any of this stuff. I know it's sad, but this really could be the opportunity to have everything removed, mine and otherwise, but I don't know the proper way to do this without having it come back later.
Can anyone offer some good advice? Thanks in advance.

What you have here is a mixed file, that can be corrected by sending in a copy of your drivers license with request to unmix the file, be sure to include copy of the credit report (numbering off the incorrect items) and on a seperate piece of paper number them off 1) this is not my social security number please remove. 2)Creditor A, Account # 123 is not mine please remove....
This should fix the problem, but you may want to call up the credit reporting agnecy directly to ask a few questions asking secifically who is the creditor reporting the incorrect social security number.
Likely it is a bank loan of some sort, if you father ever co-signed a loan for you. If you can locate this company then contact them and request that they stop reporting your social security number incorrectly so that the changes on the credit report can take affect for good, without them causing it to come back with the next tape reporting.

Contact the Police Department to obtain a copy of the report you filed, and if you have a back copy of the ID Theft Affidavit then forward a copy of this as well to each company now trying to collect on the fraudulant charges. If you don't have the original ID Theft Affidavit you can obtain a new one here to complete and forward to the CRAs & creditors / collection agencies here:
http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/pubs/credit/affidavit.pdf
I would also advise calling this number for Experian 888-397-3742 and activating a fraud alert on your credit report (which will be in affect for 3 months) - they will notify Equifax & TransUnion for you. This will allow them to opt you out and send you a free copy of your credit report. Once you get the reports then call back and tell them which accounts you know are fraudulant and they will remove them for the next 30 days while they investigate.
Also recommend forwarding copy of your phone bill (specifically showing name and address) asking them to add a victim statement:
"Please verify identify before establishing credit, victim of fraud" then they will add your phone number to the credit report so you can be contacted before anyone can open a new account that is credit report bases.
Remember the police report / ID Theft Affidavit needs to go to everyone, CRA / Creditor / Collection Agency. And you need to stay on top of them following up on this case until you get a satisfactory agreement that they are closing the accounts and dismissing the charges incurred.

Thank you so much Capepuffin for the excellent advice. I found the information for the old police report so hopefully, it won't be too difficult to get a copy.
I will start with the items that I know for sure are not mine. Should I just follow the steps for debt validation on the items that may truly be mine?
Thanks again!

Yes, you can use debt validation for accounts which you suspect or know to be yours. Otherwise keep the unknown accounts seperate to ID Theft process.
Keep up disputes with the credit reporting agencies to get these removed best you can. Make sure all of your personal information is updated with the reporting agency first before starting the dispute process.
Have you check on the ages of each account to see if you are still within the statute of limitations? You might be able to skirt paying on some accounts if you are out of their reach. At the top of this site is the look up for statute of limitations for your state.
Be sure to keep copies of all of your letters and send them certified return reciept requested.
Best of luck to you!
