Buddy of mine has been in Chexsystems for 5 years. His 5 years expired today and he asked me to drive him up to the bank so he could open an account. I get him up there, and he's still on ChexSystems...according to the bank manager, it's not 5 years anymore...now they keep you on for 7--and get this: They're talking about making it 9!

First I had heard of it, but then I had somehow found a way to sweet talk my way into a bank account about 4 1/2 years in last year, so what do I know.

That's insane, though...7 years without being able to have a bank account because of some crap that happened years ago to the dude. System is seriously messed up.

They'll figure it out eventually when the economy collapses because nobody can do anything. This will happen when the 1% of the population (who seems to be driving this economy of ours right now) decides to cash in and call it quits.

That is insane. I had a same problem though. I bounced a check for like 20 bucks or something stupid like that, and they put me in that Chexsystem. I couldn't open a damn account anywhere and to top it off, my job at that time was pressuring me to sign up for direct deposit...it sucked... I had to go to a grocery store to cash my checks :( I felt like a looser.

Then I just sat down and opened a phone book and started to call every bank in it and asked them :" Do you use ChexSystem" Found one right next to my house!!!! I am with them now and I love it...I do know that they use chexsystems now because I saw a little plate on one of the reps desk...
