i had a nice chat today with a gentleman at the FTC id theft hotline. he very nicely explained all the different procedures i could utilise and their consequences, both for me, my credit and the offender.
i would recommend anyone dealing with id theft to use this service, i learnt a lot.
altho it said at the welcome message that it was only for filing complaints, i just explained i didnt want to file a complaint, i just needed information.
