I applied for a mortgage....2 weeks later I received refund checks from US gov't- because I overpaid student loans. 1 week after I received the checks---I received a letter in the mail regarding taxes from 1999. 2 weeks after that I received a letter from the city gov't about taxes from 1999.

Does applying for a mortgage trigger these types of scenarios?

Im not sure, but I had similar instances with a few collection accounts rising from the dead after we moved into our new home. :shock:

My guess is you simply confirmed your current address with the 3 major bureaus. However, in Morrows case, it was was probably due to the home transfer with the county.
