Digging thru the wine stash I found this and figured since I've been on a white wine tear lately that this would do nicely. Well........not so much on this one. A little too limey-citrusy, even grapefruity, and the oak was more then I like. The nose was harsh and the texture was uneven. At around $18.00 a bottle, it was a disappointment. I'm going to have to check and see what the heck happened with this vintage as I don't remember La Crema being like this. Till the next uncorking........

I agree. La Crema is one of the better Chardonnays. So that news is surprising.

If you want true heaven, wait until the fall release of Rombauer Chardonnay. They sell out every year, so when it hits the shelf, buy a bottle.

It definitely left me dumbfounded. I called one of the old Cork Dorks from work and he said he had a similar experience with the '04. He has a much sharper palate than me, so I'm glad that I wasn't just losing my mind.

Was that the '05 Rombauer Chard you had? The winery says they have some left so I might have to get some shipped to me. Thanks for the heads up.

Have you had the 1990 Grange? My boss and I bought a case together a couple of years ago and I'm getting ready to open my last one. I'm hoping it's as good as I remember.......................:D
