I posted this article in the "Obtaining Credit..." forum, but it is just as applicable in this forum.. http://articles.moneycentral.msn.com/Banking/CreditCardSmarts/TheCreditCardPartyIsOfficiallyOver.aspx
I know they are saying that the 0% party is over, but CapOne continues to stuff my mailbox with 0%/0 fee cash advance checks. Every month like clockwork!

Sales tactic only.
Read the small print. "if you qualfy." Very few qualify anymore. The application terms say if you don't qualify they can automatically open the account under different terms (higher interest, lower credit line).
The 0% offer is just the bait...snap at it and they hook you with the barb you don't see.

Like clockwork, I write myself a $2000 check, deposit the funds into 4.01apr checking, wait for the bill to come due, then pay in full two days prior via CapOne website. No fees, no interest. They're good for about $60 in interest income per year. FOOLS. I guess they are waiting for me to slip up. Won't happen. If I had to mortgage my house to rent a private jet to South Dakota to pay my bill on time, I would do it, just to avoid these slimebags getting a penny from me!

LOL. Thanks.
I miss the convenience checks arriving with splashy graphics and text urging me to take a cruise or put a new kitchen in the house. I saved some of them. They are funny and are nice mementos of a bygone era. One time the letter had a background image of a hang glider soaring among majestic mountains, and the letter urged me to not put off taking that adventure I had been dreaming about. It must have been fun working in the bait-the-hook department of the credit machine.

that's the power of advertising! lol. just one look at that photo, a common person would get a cash advance just to experience the thrill.

this was about a month ago, is anyone noticing any change in their rates?
Down on all rates tied to prime (adjustable rate cards).

I got hammered in November based on "internal scoring." WaMu jacked mine to 32% despite perfect payment history for 4 years.
Oddly, CapOne did not hit me up. Probably because it was only a $500 limit card (I declined every increase they offered).

I just got 0% -- but on balance transfers only -- until May 09 from BofA.
